The sandy beaches of Punta Cana face both, the Atlantic ocean and the Caribbean sea, creating the “Mona Passage,” also known as a sportfishing paradise. Here, there’s a Billfish to target any day of the year, with Marlin and Sailfish prowling for food only a couple of miles from the shore. You’ll have to go further away to get your hooks into Swordfish, but what a fight that will be! Billfish are only a part of the equation, though. Hard-fighting Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Tuna, as well as reef dwelling Amberjack, Barracuda, Snapper, Triggerfish, and Grouper, are also on the menu. When the waves get too strong, stay inshore, and spend some time fly fishing for Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit. The experience will not disappoint. You’ll have the best chance of landing something bragworthy from a boat, and this is where our fishing charters come into play. Spend a day going after Marlin and Swordfish, or reeling in a slew of pelagics. There are also cruises that involve fishing and snorkeling so that your whole family has something to enjoy. There’s no shortage of places to go fishing from shore, but if you’re looking for a professional charter captain, head to Cap Cana marina.
